Canton Historical Society Donation

Canton, ME – CN Brown Company gifted the building at 25 Turner Street, to the Canton Historical Society.  The historical building was scheduled for demolition when the Historical Society contacted CN Brown Company with interest.  CN Brown Company believes in supporting the community and was happy to provide the structure to the Canton Historical Society to revitalize for the historical collection and community use.

The Historical Society has spent most of the summer working to prepare their site to receive the gifted building.  This work included storage of archives, demolition of their existing building, excavation at the site, placement of a foundation and the actual move of the building.  It took three weeks for the 120 year old former Grange to roll onto its new site where it now sits sturdily on a foundation.

In addition to the facility donation, CN Brown Company provided $5,000.00 to contribute to the weatherization & restoration services needed to begin utilizing the facility year round.  It’s our understanding that several requests for events have been made, which is great to hear.

CN Brown Company encourages other local area businesses and organizations to donate to the projects ahead for the Canton Historical Society.  Donations can be sent to PO Box 605, Canton, ME  04221.
